Who was Henry Hudson and why is this tour modeled after him and his ship, the Half Moon?
Answer: Henry Hudson was born in the mid-1500's and was a notable English sea explorer and navigator. Funded by the Dutch East India Company of the Netherlands, Hudson and his crew sailed aboard his ship, the Half Moon, in search of shorter trade routes. Hudson is credited with discovering Manhattan and the Hudson River, which still bears his name.

What is a duck?
Answer: A duck is a special amphibious vehicle used for this tour. These modern, state-of-the-art vehicles are able to effortlessly transition from land to water.

Is the duck safe?
Answer: Yes. The NYC Ducks fleet was manufactured to meet rigid safety and environmental standards. The fleet is U.S. Coast Guard Certified, outfitted with the proper land and marine safety equipment, and operated by skilled professionals possessing both captain licenses and commercial drivers licenses.

What is the NYC Ducks Theater?
Answer: The NYC Ducks Theater provides an exciting motion simulator ride. This multi-sensory experience helps recreate the sensations of Henry Hudson's transatlantic voyage. To our knowledge this exciting feature is not offered in any other duck tour around the world and is available only on NYC Ducks.

Answer: Yes. Each NYC Duck is staffed with a professional tour guide (first mate) and a captain.

Is the tour offered in any other languages besides English?
Answer: No. NYC Ducks are only offered in English. International visitors may be interested in supplementing their NYC Ducks experience with Gray Line New York's 'City Tour in Foreign Languages,' which features German, French, Japanese, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, Korean and Spanish narrations.

Do NYC Ducks operate year round?
Answer: No. NYC Ducks is a seasonal operation. We are currently operating Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through January 4, 2009. PLUS December 24, December 31 and January 1.

Answer: Yes. Customers wishing to purchase NYC Ducks or NYC Ducks + All Loops Tour Combo ticket and use a AAA Show & Save Card discount may do so at two Gray Line Visitors Centers: 777 8th Avenue (between 47th & 48th Streets) or Times Square (7th Avenue between 46th & 47th Streets). The AAA discount is not available for tickets purchased on this website. This discount is not applicable with any other promotional offer.

Answer: Tickets sold on-line are not for a specific date. They can be purchased up to one year in advance of your intended tour date.

When do customers get tickets from an online purchase?
Answer: At the end of the transaction you will be presented with a confirmation page that you MUST print out and bring with you on the day you take your tour. You will also receive a copy of your confirmation by e-mail.

Answer: No. Phone customers will be provided with a confirmation number at the end of the phone call. Please WRITE DOWN the confirmation number and BRING IT AND VALID PHOTO ID WITH YOU on the day of your tour.

Answer: Yes. However, departures will be subject to cancellation in the event of severe weather or water conditions. Although tickets are non refundable they may be used to rebook a future NYC Ducks trip or as a credit toward the purchase of a Gray Line New York Sightseeing product for a period of one year from date of issue. Unused portions of credits are non refundable.

Answer: No. Like duck tours around the world, our amphibious duck can drive right into the Hudson River. You will not need to move from your seat at any point during the tour.

Answer: No. Our modern duck fleet is very stable in the water so customers should not be concerned with getting seasick. If seasickness is a personal issue, please plan accordingly.
